Below is the list of all miners that are classified as Austrian. At the time when these men immigrated to Canada they really came from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. However the immigration officials of both Canada and the United States entered Austria as country of birth and we have followed this here.
These miners were from the following countries or areas of the Austro-Hungarian Empire: Bohemia, Bukovinia, Czechoslovakia, Galicia, Hungary, Poland, Slovak, Ukraine.
It is interesting and confusing to know that not one miner came from Austria as we know it today.
